My front view. We could actually see the chef cooking. (perhaps that explains why I smell like food after leaving the place)

Did I tell anyone I miss German bread??

My main dish. It was of okay standard only, compared to my 'mushroom and chicken' dish in Paulaner's, which has creamy mushroom sauce and juicy mushroom slices.

Me and xinli. (Now the guys should know why the girls took a long time to go toilet. It's because we're taking pictures.)

Nice ambience on the second floor that alvin was determined to bring his girlfriend here on Christmas day.

Xinli, Elayne and me.

Hope to see you guys again next vacation! :) Oh, by the way, that's the chef on the left.

The Housefly.

During dinner time, my brother successfully killed a housefly. He picked it up (yeeks!) and showed us.

Brother: 看!它的眼睛很 cartoon leh!

We refused to look at it. He threw it out of the window. Mum asked him to wash his hand but he didn't. He simply brushed his hands against his shorts!

Mum: Li zi eh.. La sap si lang ah!
(you.. dirty until can die)

Brother: Housefly very clean one okay.

Mother: You know Housefly?

Brother: Housefly will bathe before going out okay!

Mother: Wah.. you know Housefly very well arh.

Brother: Ya lar!

Mother: Housefly even go for sauna, you know?

I almost choked.

What I'm up to in the holidays..

1) Taking pictures.

Along the way to my tuition place, I passed by this (火车路 near Phoenix LRT station).
It was so scenic that I can't help but stop and take a picture of it.
2) Making something special for my friend.

Me and my friend did something for one of my friend. Vague description because it's supposed to be a secret~!!
3) Making an extra pouch for my BaoBei No. 2.

Can anyone explain why my mum is a seamstress and yet, I'm so bad at sewing??
4) Making a necklace cum bracelet.
5) Writing a German letter.

Last night, with the help of LEO, Free Translation, German 1 textbook and my German 3 notebook, I roughly went through what I have written and..

I finally finished writing the letter cum Christmas card for Familie Sagemann. :)
6) Buying stuff to make myself happy.

New earrings!! Don't they look like grapes??

I don't know if I have the guts to wear this long skirt but it's always what I wanted.. got it for $18 from Lucky Plaza.
7) Taking MORE pictures.

Take a look at the Christmas tree in Westmall. So much more nicer and adorable than the Orchard Road one.

A close look at the cute fat gingerbread man.

How sweet looking the little house is!!
8) Surfing interesting websites.
Before the holidays, I've been noting down stuff which I want to do a little research on. Thus, I'm here to present two websites.

Trilobites & The Red Violin

Trilobites is a term I came across when I was reading the damn fat Biology textbook and I didn't know what that term meant. So, I noted it down.

Here's how one Trilobite looks like.

About Red Violin, it's a movie I watched when my brother just applied for SCV, which was a few months ago. The movie was sort of draggy for me and worse still, I couldn't catch the storyline well because the story was presented in bits. The scenes literally jumped from one to another. And I only watched the Austria and the China part. I was attracted to this movie because I thought I heard the people speak German. And later, the scene jumped to China in the Cultural Revolution period (which I learned during JC) which is damn interesting and bloody. I thought it might be an interesting do some research on it.

A Review on Red Violin

9) Going to the gym with Yujie (tentative to change)

The dream was so real I thought I really cried.

I have chose to forget about you. Yet you appeared in my dreams and made my heart ache for you once more.

Gaining new insights..

Just realised the doors of the toilets of some other shopping centres are already of that sort of hip design as shown in my earlier post. I kuku cannot is it?

Met up with Yujie just now. We're supposed to go to the gym but due to my irregular cramps, we settled for Ya Kun Toast, half-boiled eggs and coffee. Talk about removing our tummies. Anyway, we'll work hard to have beautiful-er bodies! I'll swim next week and go to the gym too!

Watched Lilya 4-ever yesterday.

Lilya is a teenage Russian girl whose best friend is a glue-sniffing street urchin, Volodya (pronounced as Va-lo-jia), and whose mother has recently run away to live in America, abandoning her. Eager to start a new life, Lilya is excited when her new boyfriend, Andrei, asks her to move to Sweden, only to find a similar dismal existence there.

Copied and pasted from here.

It was a very depressing film. I don't feel good after watching it and I don't think Jane felt good too. The film reflected misery of an Eastern European teenager who was sold into sexual slavery. I have read about sexual slavery perhaps during college days and found it disbelieving. As a kuku girl, I idolised everything Angmo and I used to be ignorant about a lot of things. When I got to know about all the ugly stories of supposedly glamorous countries to me, I was so shocked.

Yujie said we should not spend money to make ourselves feel depressed. But I beg to differ. I think I've gained a new insight and of course learned that I'm not the most unfortunate one.

"Why pay eight bucks to see this horrifying and sad film about the sort of girl you'd pass on the street without giving her a thought? Because, improbably, it says that life is worth living."-- Chris Hewitt (St. Paul), ST. PAUL PIONEER PRESS

Gong.

I kicked the stupid washing machine and half of my toenail cracked! I'm not worried for the nail polish. I'm worried about my little toe! My brothers and my mum had their toenails turned black before because they kicked something. Luckily there was no blood.

Had been yawning hard these few days because I had two new tuition kids who are brothers. Their house is a bungalow and the only bungalow I went to is my secondary school friend's house. The first day I was there, I pressed the 'open' button and the gate opened. I stupidly thought that the gate opened because I pressed 'open'. I walked in and realised that the inside of the bungalow was dark which seemed quite creepy. I turned back and the gate didn't close. I didn't know what to do. So I stupidly decided to push the gate back to the close position. I am so stupid la can.

So I walked in and explained that I came in without any notice because there was no respond when I pressed the bell and the gate opened because I pressed the 'open' button. One of the boys said, "We saw you from the camera and so we opened the gate. It's not because of the button..."

Imagine what they might say when they actually saw me pushing the gates to close.

Picture Post.

Thank you Julia, for the handmade card! Though not very nice, i can see the effort!!
I might consider to handmake some cards next year.. see first! :)

This is the toilet door at Tampines Mall. I'm amazed at the extent to which a toilet entrance can look so hip.

Xinyi's relative got married and this is the souvenir they gave out..

Two little cute bears!

What a romantic pose. hee!

My spectacles love to slip down my nose bridge. Irritated, I took it off and started playing with it.

Lastly, take a look at what me and mum bought for Xinyi as Christmas present. Damn girly Hello Kitty tees and Hamtaro undies. Look at the tee on the right. I love the gathers at the shoulder straps!!

Puzzled..

I remember myself entering my birthday numerous times into the so-called birthday alarms. But so far, I didn't even receive an E-birthday card before. What's the point of asking people to enter their birthdays into your account when you won't even bother to send an e-card in the first place? Stupid me still sends e-cards out to friends whose birthdays are coming.

I realised something interesting..

Women with flat breasts thought that their breasts are big and try to show off by wearing low-cut clothings. They have no idea that the flat area in the front is actually a sore in the eye.

Women with big breasts worry that others might not believe the genuine-ness of their breasts. Thus, they go for "breasts test" and then announce to everyone that their big breasts are for real.

Women (not all la) just don't seem to be getting any smarter.

Summary of 2005..

Nothing much to blog about. Looks like i've been complaining a lot. Goodness.. was browsing for nothing again.. haha.. hoho.. it's been days since i blog again.. OH MY GOD~!! Never felt such a strong motivation to die.. bahahaha~!! hoho.. missed blogging like three weeks le.. got loads of things to say but dunno where to start from. Met up with Ashley and Elayne at West Mall. 大哥!HaPpiE EnGaGeMenT & HaPpie BiRtHdAy~* I might not have gone back to all my ex-schools but i wont forget the wonderful teachers who helped me along this path.. moulded me into what i'm today.. thankyou so much. After repeated attempts of searching for some pictures of this show, FINALLY found one. It just irks me when some people can get so irritating. I finished all my papers with some ti-gam-ing for the 60 MCQs paper.. which was damn sucky..
...

Looks like I'm a person who gets excited easily, judging from all those hahas and hohos. And I'm a fickle-minded person. Firstly, I said there's nothing much to blog about and then later, I complain that I got loads to blog about.

Julia, how do you think mine sounds like??

Alles auf Zucker!

A very satisfying movie experience.

Find out more about it!

I love the part when the handsome guy (Steffen Groth) said it's his first time. Cant stop laughing at the poor guy..hahahahahahaha...
Isn't he simply irresistible? (even though he stutters) I can understand why the niece was so desperate. Speaking of the niece, she studied law for the 22nd semester.. we were like... dumbfounded.

The 8 dollars is definitely worth it and the stingy kuku, who said that 8 dollars is against her principle, missed out the great stuff.

Xiang2 Qing1, me, Jane, Rita and Ying Fong going for Alles auf Zucker! :D

Lessons to be learnt..

Corporate Lesson #1:
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower. The doorbell rings. The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs. When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbor. Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $800 to drop that towel." After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. After a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves. The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs. When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, "Who was that?" "It was Bob, the next door neighbor," she replies. "Great!" the husband says, "did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?" Moral of the story: If you share critical information pertaining to credit and risk with your shareholders in time, you may be in a position to prevent avoidable exposure.

Corporate Lesson #2:
A priest offered a lift to a nun. She got in and crossed her legs, forcing her habit apart to reveal a shapely leg. The priest nearly had an accident. After controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand onto her thigh. The nun said, "Father, remember Psalm 129?" The priest removed his hand. But, changing gears, he let his hand slide up her thigh again. The nun once again said, "Father, please remember Psalm 129!" The priest apologized. "Sorry sister but the flesh is weak." Arriving at the convent, the nun went on her way.On his arrival at the church, the priest rushed to look up Psalm 129. It said, "Go forth and seek further up, you will find glory." Moral of the story: If you are not well informed in your job, you might miss a great opportunity.

Corporate Lesson #3:
A sales rep, an administration clerk, and their manager are walking to lunch when they find an antique oil lamp. They rub it and a Genie comes out. The Genie says, "I normally grant three wishes, but as there are three of you, I'll give each of you just one wish." "Me first! Me first!" says the admin clerk. "I want to be in the Bahamas, driving a speedboat, without a care in the world." Poof! She's gone. "Me next! Me next!" says the sales rep. "I want to be in Hawaii, relaxing on the beach with my personal masseuse, an endless supply of Pina Coladas and the love of my life by my side." Poof! He's gone.
"OK, you're up," the Genie says to the manager. The manager says, "I want those two back in the office after lunch." Moral of the story: Always let your boss have the first say.

Corporate Lesson #4:
A crow was sitting on a tree, doing nothing all day. A rabbit asked him, "Can I also sit like you and do nothing all day long?" The crow answered: "Sure, why not?" So, the rabbit sat on the ground below the crow, and rested. A fox jumped on the rabbit and ate it. Moral of the story: To be sitting and doing nothing all day, you must be sitting very high up.

Corporate Lesson #5:
A turkey was chatting with a bull. "I would love to be able to get to the top of that tree" sighed the turkey, "but I haven't got the energy." "Well, why don't you nibble on my droppings?" replied the bull. "They're packed with nutrients." The turkey pecked at a lump of dung and found that it gave him enough strength to reach the lowest branch of the tree. The next day, after eating some more dung, he reached the second branch. Finally after a fourth night, there he was proudly perched at the top of the tree. Soon, he was spotted by a farmer who shot the turkey out of the tree.Moral of the story: Bullshit might get you to the top, but it won't keep you there.

Chicken Little!

I watched the Chinese version. I don't know why the heck there's a chinese version one but anyway, it was weird listening to Chicken Little talking in Chinese.
Anyway, do you all remember the scene when the duck character was singing Karaoke? The song is Spice Girls' If You Wanna Be My Lover i think. They sang in it (oh my god) Hokkien. I guess the 配音 is done in Taiwan.

The main thing is, the line with "I wanna, I wanna, I wanna..." is sang like this..
"Wo siu be, Wo siu be, Wo siu be..."

I was laughing like mad and people who know me very well will know how I react when I see cute stuff. Think I made a shame out of myself in the theater. :X

I was very touched at the part when Chicken Dad told Chicken Little. It showed that no matter who you are, how you look, how you behave, your parents still love you.. I don't know the exact line because mine was in Chinese but I try to translate?

"If I made you think that you have to work hard in order to be loved, I'm sorry."

One thing I couldn't accept is that Chicken Little likes the duck. Why don't they create a character called Chicken Chick or Chicken Girl? Never mind.

Here are some pictures I ka-po ed from my friend's blog..

By the way, Chicken Little's called 鸡丁 and the fox was called 狐狸精.
And, according to Golden Village's Movie Guide, Chicken Little was supposed to be a girl. Why was there a change in sex?

SICKENINGLY PISSED.

.
.
.
but i guess I'll be okay by tomorrow. Don't wanna spoil my fun days ahead.

Busy Holidays!

Unlike Julia Cheot, I've already prepared all the Christmas cards for my best friend, jc friends, and university friends-6 beauties and german friends.. so proud of myself.. though I don't pluck veggies like her, I aspire to learn to cook some stuff so that I'll be a damn good housewife in the future. Crap.

This week's going to be an exciting week. Today, we're going to celebrate my mum's birthday. We're going Punggol, Changi Airport and Karaoke. Tomorrow, we're going to watch Chicken Little and visit my elder brother's new residence. Wednesday, I'm going to Edris' House- i.e, meeting JC pals. On Thursday, it's German Movie Day! :D

妈妈,生日快乐!!
祝你永远青春美丽! 开开心心 !

On Saturday, mum's ja-pa-lang soup just looks so appealing.. heee..:)

Selegie Tau Huay!! Damn soft and nice! :D

一时的冲动。。

My Biology paper is over!! YEAH!!! Burn the lecture notes!

After burning the papers, I went to Orchard. Think I was there too early? The lightings were rather disappointing.. the ones along the road are worse than this I think.

The only Christmas tree I spotted in Orchard Road..

Went past the toys and I cant help but pose with the toys.. just like what I did when I was small..

Notice that there's even Chicken Little miniskirt.. so cute!

FINALLY!

I finished all my papers with some ti-gam-ing for the 60 MCQs paper.. which was damn sucky.. I was so reluctant to refer to the textbook because I knew I won't find the answer even if I flip the textbook like a siao-ding-dong. I was surrounded by guys in the examination halls. Must guys always be so scienc-y?? And oh, not to mention, their continuous shaking of legs(there were three guys near me.. ALL OF THEM shook their legs and one of them even had a rhythm! Boy, you think you're in a band is it?), a constant body odour floating in the air, and occasionally farting. You know what I mean.

I went straight to the Library to borrow a book, A Scream goes through the House. (Yes, I'm that mad to find myself a book to read after reading so much readings for the past few months) I've been eyeing that book for the past few weeks whenever I pass by the shelves in Central Library. Having read the first page, I thought it would be great for me to act 'literature' in the holidays- read a book! And perhaps, write a review on it. Due to some itchy-ness for history, I borrowed a Japanese Communism book too. Cant wait to read them.

I sold my Biology textbook! So fast! It was not exactly sold but it was put on the waiting list to be sold. Nice service. On my way home, I also collected my German Vocabulary test which I didn't really study for.. Luckily I passed.

Oh oh oh!!!
DID I MENTION THAT I'M GOING FOR A GERMAN MOVIE NEXT THURS?!?! *hops*

I'm so damn excited! Having missed Kebab Connection, I'm not going to let another German movie fly pass! I'm planning to look out for every German Movie Festival!!! :D

A little survey..

  1. Do you dig your own ears?
  2. Do you dig your nose when no one's around you?
  3. Do you brush your teeth before you sleep?
  4. Do you pick on your leg skin?
  5. Do you smell your own armpits?
  6. Do you smell your socks after wearing them for a day?

Sounds gross I know.. If you bother to risk their shu nu xing xiang, you can tell me about them. Well, at least I dig my own ears on a frequent basis MYSELF.. not like someone.

Ich bin zurueck!

I am so damn bored! I have not been using internet/laptop for almost a week and think I'm dying from IT starvation.. It's like, for the whole day, you'll be thinking of the blogs you want to read, the websites you wanna check out and.. just some mingling around that you want before you dunk yourself right into the thick BIOLOGY textbook which you feel like burning. urgh.

My blog's been down for a week too because I made some changes and yeah, my laptop threw it's temper at me and decided to leave me for a holiday in the service centre.

The Social Work papers are quite tough.. not as easy as the studying process.. I could sense that my brain was working damn hard when I was answering the questions.. You really have to APPLY your concepts or else you will definitely sound like you are crapping your way through and that, is real bad.

Well, a mini summary about my papers.

My 2103 was a little bad.

My 2105 was a little better due to the fact that it is an open-book examination.. I happily quoted stuff from the readings in my essays.

My 2104? I was so damn lucky to have read an article on marriage before the examination proper.. I sort of memorised the points and BINGO, it was tested in one of the essay questions! I crapped my way through and ended up with three full pages for that one essay! And I am so damn heng to have spotted Bronfenbrenner's Ecological Theory (but sway enough to not read thoroughly) and crapped ALL THE WAY again.

Mind you, three pages is not that easy.. not as compared to essays I wrote during JC. I deduced (inaccurately) that it's because more application is required for higher level. What! Cannot make myself happier meh? Anyway, I studied like shit leh!

Biology? I wanna burn the whole textbook and all the lecture notes! I hate science!

I'd planned a mini class gathering at edris' house where we do the usual stuff- munching pizza while watching VCDs.. Just realised my bank savings have dropped quite a bit and thus, denying me a lot of things which I wanted for short-term enjoyment. I really wanted to earn as much as possible now so that I do not suffer after I graduate (when loads of loans come after you).

One thing I am VERY looking forward to, is a tentative Taiwan trip with my family..
YIPPIE!!

Me with my brother in the morning..

My first time doing Manicure and Pedicure.. LOOK LOOK LOOK at my shiny fingers!

Totally feel so pampered throughout the whole process.. :)

I specially took effort to not to bite my nails during the irritating examinations period okay!

My outfit for daytime..

I went to set my hair and boy am I surprised that the lao ban niang was so good at tying up hair.. looks gorgeous right?!?! The surprising thing is that you guys know how damn layered my hair is lor! And she manage to get them off my neck and stayed nicely on top. Wonderful!

Everyone said so :p...

...but they only said my back looks nice.. duhzzz..

The lao ban niang sprayed some pink stuff on my head.. nice! :)

(Notice that I'm wearing the earrings that you all gave me girls?)

Forgot to mention the little gift of the day.. chocolates with nice little gold ribbons..

My respectable (and idiotic) elder brother's Chinese Wedding..

A day my 大哥 and 大嫂 have been waiting for.. I am not totally into the romantic mood though.. I was hopping around for the whole day.. buying ice-cubes and fetching people from the MRT station.. and of course interacting with my "long-lost" cousins and relatives and old neighbours.. it's been such a long long time since I see them and when they see me, they only have one reaction..

"Wah! Ah ni dua liao ah!!"
(You've grown so BIG in hokkien)

Hey.. I don't eat liao bi (wasted rice in hokkien) okay..hahahahaha..

Alright so let me tell the whole story using pictures..

Before 9am..

the couple comes in..

No regrets??

.

.

.

NOPE!

The couple served tea to the grandmother.. (a pity that my other grandmother is no longer around. She really loves this grandson of hers)
