Unintended, yet inspirational.

Been going through various emotions for the past few weeks... Lousiness, unhappiness, anger, sadness, irritation, disappointment... due to various reasons.

I realise, the negative feelings are never-ending. And I also realise, what someone said is true- there are some things in life that you have to live with... I remember I was pretty irritated when I first heard that. Now, I can make better sense of what was said.

A lot of them were unintended yet so inspirational. =)

Bread and butter #298 (Bottleneck wonders.)

I feel like I'm at 'bottleneck' already. I need a break from work.

Am facing difficulties in balancing my self... so I'm constantly pondering what's wrong and constantly trying to find solutions for myself... I think I really need some time to be away from work and reflect about my progress again. I feel, if I don't take a break soon, I will just be stuck at that 'bottleneck'... and I will just feel more and more horrible because I can't progress further.

But it's good that I realise that I'm at the 'bottleneck' level... shows high self-awareness mah. So instead of choking myself to death, I will set aside some time to seriously think about how to relax during my leave days. Heh.

This is what I miss...

Standing on a stage, singing together with fellow choral music lovers, experiencing the adrenaline rush and the extreme elation as you go through the motions and complete the performance.

This feeling is beyond words...

A bad apology is better than no apology.

If only you're willing to put down your ego and apologize...

nothing else will matter.

Health is wealth.

I finally went to see a Chinese doctor on Saturday.

After describing my condition to him, he seemed to know what happened to me already and started to twist my fingers and arm. I told him I suspect that my injury was due to a dragon boat session a few months back, and he lamented aloud, "how can a Social Worker get injured like that?!" He said that usually people who get my kind of injury are construction workers or people who use a lot of physical energy.

Oh well, apparently, the Social Worker who owns this blog uses a lot of physical energy lor. In the wrong way somemore.

Anyway, I'm feeling relieved now that I've seen the doctor... I've procrastinated for so long! I hope that my finger, or rather, arm will heal asap. I want to play badminton! As to dragon boat, maybe I will avoid it for a while...

Dear friends, do take good care of yourselves!

19 September 2009- Airport cum hotpot.

Somehow, I always look forward to having hotpots. It's not the ingredients or soup base that matters the most. It's the sitting-together, cooking-for-each-other processes that makes the hotpot experience unique and memorable. P1000651

Bread and butter #297 (The Record Breaking Event!)

I am very proud of my Miracle Team and Sec 3 kids!

For the past weeks, we formed three subcommittees (Public Education, Finance and Publicity) within the class and trained them in respective skills, trained 12 students in drafting a speech and learning to speak in public to publicise the event. The kids rose to the occasion, spoke in front of a 1000 plus people, spoke to my laoban to request for budget for logistics in a formal meeting, painted a 4m x 1.5m banner (I know after that they were very tired) in 3 days, set up publicity booths both at EMIT! Launch as well as during their school recess timeslots.

The team has set aside extra time to go the extra mile- physically went down to 43 embassies to borrow flags (through emails, calls and sometimes have to write letters on the spot), planned the detailed layout of formation, think of steps to make group work manageable and enjoyable, going through the stress as we were tired and busy, etc etc.

After so much hard work, we have finally made our way into the Singapore Book of Records last Saturday, 12th September 2009. Credits go to the Miracle Team mates- Peiyi and Benjamin, as well as the ever-supportive colleagues, Xinyan, Seng Meng, Theresa, Bessey... not forgetting Laoban. And of course, thanks to the volunteers and friends who came to the rescue, especially Soon Tien!

Can't help but feel, nothing can ever pull anyone of us down anymore. What could be more physically and emotionally challenging than this (hope I don't sound too complacent)? Jiayou, everyone :) :) :)

We have set a Singapore Record! =)

Miracles do exist.

Mundane reflections- Be inspired...

I just had a really nice catching up with TG over MSN- he's already in LA furthering his studies. Can still sense his humor through MSN man... he's really funny lah... cook bah kut teh and nasi lemak for his room mates while they wash clothes for him?!

Somehow, as we all age, we just look forward to more gatherings. At least that's the case for me. I especially want to catch up with people who impacted me in a special way. And TG is definitely one of them, because he once said a statement which impressed me loads. Hahaha. Best regards, TG!

My handphone is a little ding dong these days. And I'm starting to doubt the effectiveness of it more and more... especially when people don't reply or forget to reply my smses, I will start to doubt my phone more than doubting the possible coldness or forgetfulness of those whom I've smsed.

It's sad, how smses get ignored these days. Don't take them for granted if they're trying to express something meaningful, say gratitude or regret! Afterall , life is damn short. Replying the sms with a "k" or "it's alright" won't take up much of your time, no?

A bad apology is better than no apology.

Then there are people who are perpetually forever sms-ing. Hello, please be polite and don't keep sms-ing when you're out with your friends? If you prefer to continuously sms, please stay at home lah. People don't meet you just to see you sms, you know.

Here's what I keep telling myself these days- say "thank you" or "sorry" when the thought comes to my mind. Don't wait- just say. The thought of not letting people know how much I care is unbearable when time is so precious and life is too short.

On the contrary, when people piss me off (which happened this afternoon when the kopitiam aunty growled at me as I was blocking her way. What the hell. Can't she just walk another way?), it's good to just grumble or curse or swear or cry, let it all out and let go. Just forget it lah, why make yourself feel miserable because someone stupid tried to spoil your day? And if there were to be any damage, it's done liao lor. What we CAN do is to minimise the impact of the damage.

Treasure every moment we have! Be a Tigger. :)

Bread and butter #296 (It's the time for Miracles to occur.)

The Miracle Team has worked extra hard for the past few weeks ever since group work commenced... separate session plans, purposeful splitting into smaller groups, arranged a formal meeting with my laoban, training for public education, etc.

It's A LOT of hard work.

The Record Breaking Event Banner

(This banner does not sum up the amount of work we did.)

And finally, last Friday, the girls from my group spoke in front of a 1000 plus school mates to publicise the event that they have been working on. The two brave girls who rose up to the occasion... I never expect them to do so, but they did so well. I'm so proud of them! Now they're progressing to become emcees for the event itself. :) :) :)

At EMIT! Launch, these Miracle kids set up a booth for a second round of publicity. This time round, we had amazing boys who explained the concept so well- in both English and Chinese. I was very impressed. It definitely warms my heart to see my kids grow over the past 3 years.

Over the past few days, Miracle Team has been busy collecting flags... I practically combed the embassies in Raffles Place area- was super tired after that. I know the team is tired too, so I'm going to try my best to support my team. Afterall, we've worked so hard for the past 3 years... we're going to make this record-breaking event happen.

We're in this together.
