Most of us were staring at the television. hoho.

Jess and Xiang Ji.

Erm, the rationale of taking this picture, according to Liping, is to show our faces together for Yujie. DUH.

Xiaoyun, Jessalyn and me.

The Girls.

A group photo at SCH Backstage. I love this photo the most!! :D

Happy Mothers' Day!

All I have to say is: My mum's a Super Woman! :D

I've got quite a few postcards of this design. Request from me if you want. Hee.

German postcards?
I also got! And I got LOADS of them. Teeheehee...

Oh yes, Julia showed me an article written by Peiqi. From a child's point of view. Interessant.

She wrote an article with regards to the inability of adults in understanding children's point of view.Peiqi, you not bad wor! ;)

And, this oh-so-social-work quote from Serene.

"Behind the labels and diagnoses are REAL PEOPLE, who, no matter what others may think, have ideas, thoughts, opinions and ambitions."

Gaining momentum..

We are still supposed to plan some activities but we're lazing around most of the time. Well we can afford to do so anyway because the deadlines are rather far away. But we just realised that one of our proposal is rather skimpy so I am trying to work that out by tonight so that I don't like to rush like a cow tomorrow. :)

We ate lunch together as a big group. I quite like the atmosphere there. It's rather cosy and warm. The people are nice and all. There's this guy (who's pretty young) who explained some activities that we would be doing together. His activities are very happening- a night hike (in fact, it's overnight!), visits to Changi, etc.

We are also involved in group work, which is a part of social work that I'm very much looking forward to. I don't really know how to explain what is group work. I tried explaining to my mum and she ended up having the impression that people are just there to share their views. Gosh.

Oh, and I am required to write a logbook to "communicate" with my supervisor. I think it's a pretty cool idea. Right now, I have three notebooks in my handbag- one for work, the other for personal recordings and the last one is my logbook.

Oh yes. One very important thing I did today during tea break. I ate 汤圆s!! They're so so so yummy!! Two with yam filling, one with 豆沙, and the last one with peanut.

I don't mind getting fat. Alright, I shall go swimming on the mornings when I can claim my free hours!! :S
I miss Anderson. We've finally earned a choir room, a room which we should already have long long time ago. I miss the choir days.

Narrow-minded people.

I suggest you people to do some social work-based modules. I guarantee you that you'll see things in a whole new different light. Really.

I realise (from two experiences these few days) that a lot of people are very narrow-minded. A means A. A cannot mean B+C. It's just A. There are a lot of ways of seeing things. I hope not all people are so fixated. That's not very healthy. And yes, I am not very happy about it.

Today's work is getting interesting. Me and Rachel got to plan some events. It's going to be very tiring, but when I look at my very colourful schedule, I think all's worth it! :)

And oh, with regards to the narrow-minded idea, in the past I used to think that I don't want my man to be from the social work field because they don't earn enough to grant me a tai-tai status, but now why not?

I think people who do social work talk in a different way, behave in a different way and think in a different way. All in all, they're very encompassing. Not that people from other professions are ALL narrow-minded but well, whatever I noticed so far are the negative sides of other professions. Too bad.

First day at work..

I am glad to see a familiar face in an unfamiliar environment. I met nice people in the office and the programmes that we're exposed to seemed very very challenging, exciting and happening. This attachment is going to be so great! :)

I looked very smart today in a white long sleeved shirt with black pants and heels. And thanks to mum, my 形象顾问, I got "ears" for my black pants last night because I keep complaining that I look weird in office wear and ta-dah, mum came up with the idea of adding a belt to the outfit and it's like a total image. Nice! THANKYEWWWW la... :P

My legs feel totally wobby on my way home. I think it's because of a week without heels. Oops.

Meanwhile, we are supposed to read annual reports and some publications by CSC. It's time to absorb more information before engaging work officially. 加油!! :D

What's this supposed to mean?

At night, when everything is quiet and all you can see are the stars up above- have you ever tried to listen , and I mean really tried, with all your heart, to listen to what they say?

"Please, give me a sun that burns bright, so I can sometimes rest and gather new strength to guide you again tomorrow," says the star.

"Please give me a man and a woman who I can shine upon and warm," says the sun.

"Please, give us some children so we can share our love," says the couple.

"Please, give us a house to live in, to protect us and to be our home," says the family.

"Please, give me a garden with plants, so I can provide food and flowers for my family," says the house.

"Please, give us some bees and butterflies, so we can grow and have some life in the garden," say the flowers.

"Please give us a sky we can fly in," say the butterflies.

"Please give me some stars that twinkle happily, so that the people have something to reach for, guide and inspire them. " Says the sky.

From SCS Annual Report 2002/2003.

Do you all think the latest function of MSN is good?

It allows your separate lines to lump together like my black words above. I actually entered quite a few times. I thought it's quite a cool function, but the above black chunk looks a bit irritating.

Choir Days Flashback..

I hate it when people say choir is boring. Who said so?! Grrrrr... Everyone has their own interests and if you don't like choir, then shut up. Don't try to criticise other people's interests.

I don't know exactly why I like choir so much. I don't know how to read tau gehs, I don't know how to play piano. But I think I sing well and I am sort of good at remembering tunes and tones or whatever you call that. I can remember the exact sound of the notes at the beginning of songs. But that's the only thing I know.

AJChoir, plain interest, beautiful memories.

Pictures were taken from my old picture album. Bear with the blur-ness.

AJChoir Concert 2002 when I was J1,

Rachel, Jessalyn, me and Huixian in our pretty gowns.
(We sew the shiny things ourselves!!)

Prague Trip 2002 (when I was J1)

It was a damn memorable trip. We won gold for the competition!! :D

And I had my very first trip to Europe then! It was ultra exciting for me because it's my first time travelling so far without my mum. A pity I didn't really explored Prague enough. I think I was too naive then.

Altos!! :D

Xiaoyun, me, Libing, Xiaomei, Jessalyn, Allyssa and Huixian.

Manhong, me and Xiaoyun at Victoria Concert Hall. :)

I think it's SYF 2003.

AJChoir in flowery clothes.

And, not to forget, the first time I receive real flowers. Thank you girls! :)

That's all for now. Perhaps more flashback when I think back more and get more emotional.

Short People... doo doo doo~!

I went for AJChoir Alumni practice just now.

Allyssa, me and Xiang Ji (who's in FASS and I am totally blur about this fact! Gosh.)

I took a secret video in the dark (camera hidden in my pocket) just because I wanted to do so. But later I realise it's very important because they won't have practice on Monday and I just learned the two songs only TODAY!! So I can just keep listening to this clip and recall the notes.

Short people are just the same as you and I,

all men are brothers until the day they die..

Ah, see! Tall people don't laugh at short people okay!

Sorry, bear with the darkness. You can read on as you listen to how we sang. And please pardon some weird notes because this is our second time practising. Gahhhhhh!!! :X

Actually in this clip, you can hear some mistakes made if you know some main music stuff or if you have been a choir member. So paiseh~!!! Altos sang some wrong notes! :X

Tau Gehs!! Long time no see!! :D Well, actually you all know me, I don't know you all! :PpP

Anyway, it's a pretty cute song about Short People. Allyssa saw the song name and said, "Huixian (our Sectional Leader), I don't think I can song this song." Muahahahahahahahahaa...

The next video you can hear the guys singing their own song. You will be able to hear some "trickle trickle.." so I think it's some song about rain. Other than that, some small talk between girls.

Here you go!

Xiang Ji: 好像 sian sian 这样.

Cindy: 还讲我们不够cheerful.

Because there's this guy who said we are not cheerful enough!

Take a look at the concert ticket. So cool!

Do you know how our tickets used to look like? Pathetic, plain, easily torn. Tsk.

Next week is going to be so happening! Will definitely update every single details about the choir performance, so stay tuned! :D

Judging from the tone of this entry, you can sort of guess my mood now!! :D

ICH BIN GLUECKLICH!!! SEHR GLUECKLICH!!

Another question.

I was packing up my old stuff just now and I found this picture. It was drawn in one of the German 3 tutorials. Guess what is it?

Reflections..

I could sense some guilt in his eyes. I hope this guilt can translate into something meaningful.

And yes,

No men, won't die.

Fed up.

This shall be the last time I am going to complain about this issue. I shall put this issue behind and move on with life. I am sure there are better things for me to talk and think about. All these thoughts have been bugging me for the past few years. I want to exterminate all of them.

Some people just like to be so last minute. Well, I am a freaking well-prepared person so I hate to be so last minute. Centuries ago, somebody messaged me about a gathering which requires a proper venue (private and sheltered) due to the activity we're going to engage in. No venue and time were stated. And when it's stated (a day before the gathering), its in vague terms. I admit I felt like slapping them.

Another gathering was supposed to be held on that similar damn day. No venue, no time. So meet where? Up in the sky ah? Are we meeting online or are we just going to walk around the streets and pray that we meet each other somehow.

I find it quite amazing that they can actually do this. Decide time and venue of gathering a day before the gathering. Perhaps I am overly concerned.

I find it worse when people are not even concerned. I tried to persuade a friend to come. She insisted that it's very sian. Alright. Place your butt at home then. Come on la, we're old friends. Meeting up for dinner won't kill you. I find it quite amazing how some people can forgo all these old friendships. Don't say it's boliao or boring or sian. You think the organizers felt very excited when organizing? You think the organizers are too free? What do you think when you are the organizer and there's people who keep throwing some cold water at you?

Another bad scenario is when people have too many questions. People like to ask, "Who's going?" HOW I KNOW? You should go and find out for yourself! If you're so concern, ask yourself la. You think the organisers got free 1000 sms-es is it? Even so, typing sms-es and replying them sucks. (Especially when everyone asks the same question)

Some people still don't understand the rationale behind a gathering. A gathering is a time when friends catch up with each other somewhere, be it coffeeshop, old school compound, foodcourt, Macdonald's restaurant, etc. (And yes, it must be decided before hand unless you and your friends are damn close.) No need to care about past ties or possible future ties. No need to care about who's going or not. No need to care about the money spent (At most, you don't spend lor. Drink plain water la!). You can do anything with your friends. Sing KTV, drink kopi, go sit by Singapore River. No need to care if the activity is exciting enough. If it's not exciting enough, then go organise yourself. Don't complain.

Some people die also won't turn up in gatherings. Some are worse. They say they'll meet up some time soon and their some time soon is like ages? You never get to see them. Perhaps you will only get to see them on the day when you lie in your coffin. At the beginning, I thought it's probably just sway that they couldn't join us. But later on, I start to put blame on them and think that they're probably cooking up some excuses just to not meet me. I give up easily on people when they let me down. Afterall most people give up easily when their efforts are not realised.

Another factor which sort of disturbs me is when people are picky about food.

Take a look at this:

The photo in the mail is the Pulitzer Prize-winning photo taken in 1994 during the Sudan famine. The photo depicts a famine stricken child crawling towards an United Nations food camp, located a kilometer away.

The vulture is waiting for the child to die so that it can eat it. The picture shocked the whole world. No one knows what happened to the child, including the photographer Kevin Carter who left the place as soon as the photograph was taken.

Three months later he committed suicide due to depression.

Alright, maybe this picture doesn't really show how I feel but, I hate it when people are picky. For example, he or she doesn't eat a certain kind of vegetable and thus, we have to accomodate to him or her. I got plenty of such examples.
.
.

And bear in mind that for both gatherings, I am not the organiser. I am not siding with the organizers or the people invited. For both gatherings, I am just a passive sponge which absorbs everything that is thrown at me. And sorry, I am very irriated with the above scenarios.

Don't try to reason out with me. Instead, reflect. I think there's something for us to learn here.

Can see that I am quite bored?

Your Theme Song is Back in Black by AC/DC

"Back in black, I hit the sack,
I've been too long, I'm glad to be back"

Things sometimes get really crazy for you, and sometimes you have to get away from all the chaos.
But each time you stage your comeback, it's even better than the last!

You Should Get a JD (Juris Doctor)

You're logical, driven, and ruthless.
You'd make a mighty fine lawyer.

I don't think I am suitable to be one. Muahahahaha..

永不放弃!

I went to school at 4pm (weird timing) today to see Dr Timothy Sim (again) for discussion of our examination question. I admit, I am one of those who did badly. I didn't really applied what he taught us. Even if I did applied, I must have applied my knowledge in an inadequate way. So, I offered to take notes and put it up on forum. I am a little lazy now but I thought it's a good form of revision. Some of the things stated by him seem very simple but perhaps my brain is just not up to his standards.

He asked us if we were excited for Fieldwork. I said I am worried. And (freakingly) when I said that I could feel my tears rolling around the rim of my eyes. Gosh. I am afraid to say that I am having some sort of a fear now. Urgh. Those same old "scared" feeling.

But I know I will be able to do it. I can psycho myself. I can encourage myself. I can do it.

.

.

To quote him for the day,

"Afterall it's just common sense. The only difference is that common sense nowadays are no longer that common."

Guess what he's refering to.

It's Students Care Service, not Student Service Centre!

I've changed the name of the agency that I am going to work in. *smack forehead*

All these while, I've been telling people that I am going to Student Service Centre instead of Students Care Service for attachment!

Heh. I've finally looked through the official website but I think, I am less than half-readied! Of course I am looking forward to carry out field practice. I think it'll be a very good learning experience and it's a good time to train my skills too.

Read up about my attachment agency at this website! :)

Ellen, Ningjia and Annie's Birthday Gathering..

I was still stranded in Bukit Batok while Julia was already at Jurong Point.
(Believe it or not, I wasn't late on purpose.)

Me and Julia headed Chinatown for German Sausages (Wuerstchen) because she didn't know where the stall is. So I brought her there with a little difficulty. Muahahahahaa..

Look at how satisfied our Julia looks after eating the sausages.

We are sorry, Ifah, that we were late. We reached Clark Quay..

later than Sharifah and.. she examined Ellen's Monopoly. And they started to discuss how expensive certain local buildings are while I trudged behind.

We headed to Settlers' Cafe at a very ulu part of Clark Quay but decided to change the venue since Annie couldn't come and the cafe looked crowded and we were lazy to book seats beforehand. So, we walked to Coffeebean beside Singapore River!

Sharifah and Me waiting for the Ultimate. :D

I feel like a tourist.

Me and Singapore River.

Ifah, me and Singapore River again.

After finishing our coffee and trying to find out where the mysterious smoke came from, we went to Marina Square...

(Freaking $23 bus ride. I die also won't board it. Sharifah said the tourists can board the normal double-decker bus and still "stay on the top" when it rains.)

At Secret Recipe, we had our cakes specially for Ellen, Ningjia and Annie.

We decided to celebrate earlier and sing the Birthday song earlier. :)

Early Celebration, starring Sharifah, Julia and Cindy.

Yummy chocolate chip walnut cake! :D

*rubs tummy*

Not forgetting the GIGANTIC curry puff with veggies we had too.

I felt so bloated from my coffee and we ended up forcing each other to eat.

Almost got into a fight (just like what happened on Monday).

After a few hours of aimless window-shopping, Ellen, Ningjia and Weishang finally came.

We'd a few choices actually. Firstly, a spaghetti place, Kenny Rogers, Cafe Cartel, etc. But we decided to go to the Fin to try something new.

Ellen with her Singapore's version Monopoly. (Notice how happy she is.)

Ningjia and her vouchers.

The food we ordered.

Clam Chowder! *rubs palms*

Finally, us!

For a post with loads of superb adjectives and nice words used, please refer to Julia's blog.

Julia, I don't mind an early birthday present. Muahahahahahaa...

Present hunting..

It's just a few hours of meetup, a simple cup of coffee, some mindless window shopping, criticising the rusty bags that a salesgirl expected us to buy, reflecting on the picture on Sharon's blog (the vulture and the kid)...

Nice. :)

I am falling in love with editing photos in such a way. My pictures don't look really professional but I thought they look very bubbly. :D Please click to expand the picture. If Hello doesn't like you, it won't expand. So, it depends on your luck.

A promise.. between us. :)

Let's go search for wildflowers soon!

I am starting to miss normal school days already~
