And when I asked my boy for feedback on the counselling experience. His first response was, " I thought you asked me this before?" And then he shared patiently what was helpful. So I asked, "okay, so are there things that perhaps could have been done better or in a different way?" He just shook his head in a genuine and cute fashion, with a slight smile on his face. So I joked, "so 10 upon 10?" Think I raised my eyebrow in suspicion. But he just nodded his head very genuinely. And my heart melted. This is from a boy whom I've had an interesting and deep therapeutic journey with. As much as he think he has gained a lot, I think I've gained a lot from this whole journey too. Maybe this is my gift for hitting my 6th year mark in the Social Work field...
7th year here I come!
