什么是感冒?如何防治普通感冒?

Woke up in the morning and recalled that last night, I had symptoms of 感冒 (according to mum). I can't really fit the chinese names of illnesses to their english names. Thus,

www.google.cn :P

(wah liew. advertisement.)

Alright, don't try to tsk at me and tell me the english name of 感冒 okay. That's insulting. I'll throw my smelly slipper at you.

And don't bully me anymore. I am sick. Sick before I even started on mugging.

Cute lil' Benjamin..

(Why is my previous post gone??)

BOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooo...

I have to type again!! Boo.

Alright basically Benjamin asked me to read aloud the normal zodiac and chinese zodiac interpretations. We were both Libras and according to the newspaper, we're supposed to have good luck yesterday. So,

I pointed at Benjamin and went, "Yeahhhh..."

And he pointed back at me and said, "Yeahhhh..." :)

Well, I consider myself lucky because when I reach Phoenix, it was raining heavily. And stupid me didn't bring an umbrella. (To think I always scold people, especially girls, who don't bring umbrellas.) I asked the uncle at the Mama-shop if he sells any umbrellas. He said no and handed me a dusty umbrella which was left at a dirty corner. The umbrella was in a very bad condition but it kept me 3/4 dry at least. :)

rewritten on Friday (7th April)

:D :D :D Rebecca says she'll bring brownies for us!! Love ya!!

Between studying the interactions of human and their environment (what I study in SW now) and communicating with people via letters (what I always like), I chose the latter.

I can never love anything as much as I love german now.

Not even my dear Oskar or Tommy. :)

Today's German lesson was damn funny, entertaining. Though Herr Chan ALWAYS overshot, I always had fun in his lessons! *beams*

I simply love him!

Firstly, we talked about TV programmes that we watch. It all started with the question, "How many hours do you spend watching TV everyday?"

It happened that me, Joan and Siwei (and I think some other person) raised up our hands for the "two-hour" option.

So, Herr Chan asked, "Cindy, what shows do you watch?"

Cindy blushed.

"Da Chang Jin..."

Whole class burst out laughing.

He asked for a reason. So I said it is interesting and comments started to pop out from other classmates. For example, good food, touching story, etc. And the smartest answer from me: Alles. :)

He then commented that it was long ago telecasted in SCV and I replied that I only have SCV recently.

"So what do you watch in the other hour?"

"Errrrrr another drama."

"Wow. We have a Drama Queen here!"

Though my sentences got damn loads of grammer or whatever mistakes, the conversation itself was so nice.

Joan said she watches Hong Kong dramas and Siwei, Japanese Anime.

...

We then got into groups. I was in the same group as Ying Ying, Junwei (?) and Siwei.

Some game about television programmes. I am the eraser, by the way. Heh.

In the end, me and Ying Ying went furthest because Siwei made a small mistake in his answer. *Hoots*

ZDF is Zweites Deutsche Fernsehr (?)

But Siwei said Zweites Deutsche Funk!

Actually both me and Ying Ying were both stuck in the "two News Channels in Germany" question. And all of us landed at that spot at different times. We repeatedly heard the two answers for four times!

In the end, during discussion, we realised we had one of the channels wrong! Argh for the whole game, we thought we knew.

...

We proceeded to our next topic, "Koennen Tiere traeumen?" (can animals dream?)

The guys were saying that insects don't live for long so there's completely no point for them to have dreams. Hmmm...

Siwei also shared a super-duper-funny story with us which resulted in all of us to burst our laughing the the midst of group discussion. While he was in NS, his friend who was just biten by a mosquito realised that it didn't flew away. (Think the mosquito drank too much blood and felt drowsy just like how we feel drowsy when we just had a full meal) So, Siwei's friend actually squeezed the part of his hand which is still being biten by the mosquito and the poor mosquito who only wanted a meal died because it ''exploded".. Oh my gosh. That sounds horrible but all of us were like laughing like mad. Muahahahahahaa..

I saw Junwei's handwriting and asked, "What faculty are you from?"

Junwei: "Science"

Cindy: "Oh, your handwriting is very nice leh!!"

Siwei: "What has the faculty got to do with the handwriting? You mean Engineering students don't have nice handwriting?"

Cindy don't dare to say a word. (Actually what I want to comment is that perhaps guys doing Engineering has good hand writing because my elder brother's handwriting is very nice. Duh.)

Siwei immediately took Junwei's pencil and wrote some words on his worksheet.

He wrote: My handwriting people also say nice.

Anybody can understand why is his Engrish so powderful when his German is so tok-gong?

And yeah, I took the picture secretly. Haa!

After talking about why dolphins don't really sleep (they actually close one eye and rest one side of the brain only), we moved on to the topic of brain. Herr Chan then asked if we are more of a righty or lefty. Righty being erm, people who usually do things largely based on emotions and intuition while lefty is referring to people who do things based on logic and facts. (Something like that. I am not a good Introduction to Psychology student.)

I thought the FASS people would raise up their hands to indicate that they are righties. But, (geh?) I was one of the few (really few) people who raised up their hand. Basically I hate logic and I think I am too lazy to think logically. Not everything is based on logic la. I can't survive well with logic, I think. I am logical but I like to go with my feelings too. You can't neglect them you know? By the way, funny Siwei raised his hand. He's a righty as well! Engineering Faculty leh! Hmm, looks like I have a stereotype of Engineering students.

The last thing we did was to have a listening exercise. I was totally shagged by then because I woke up at 6am. Long day~ But German lesson helped to energize me! :D

P/S: Content may not be exactly correct because of tired-ness of the silly girl who had lessons till 8pm. :)

I am immune now.

This is what I always wished I could be (at least for the past few weeks). I think I am moving towards my goal slowly. Wish me luck.

And no, I really don't wish to dream anymore. It lowers my guard and makes me weak. The last thing I need to do now is to be weak.

Thanks for your concern! I really appreciate it! :D

Lola rennt.

When we meet Manni (Moritz Bleibtreu), a small time courier for big time gangster, he is working a standard pick-up/drop-off, and everything is going just fine. When the job is done, all he has to do is wait for his girlfriend, the orange-haired punk girl Lola (Franka Potente), to pick him up. But today is unlike any other day. Due to an incident while she was buying a pack of cigarettes, Lola is late, and Lola is never late. One stroke of bad luck leads to another, and by the time Manni calls Lola, he is at a pay phone with a big, big, big problem. His unforgiving boss will meet him in twenty minutes to pick up 100,000 marks; money that Manni, suddenly, does not have.Lola rushes out of her apartment and down the street, attempting to get to Manni and, somehow, pick up 100,000 marks on the way. She tears through the city, in a whirl of bums, nuns, babies and guns. Down sidewalks, into offices, through traffic and back again. As her feet slap the pavement and the seconds tick down, the tiniest choices become life altering (or ending) decisions, and the fine line between fate and fortune begins to blur.

Jeden Tag, jede Sekunde triffst Du eine Entscheidung, die Dein Leben verändern kann.
(English translation: Every second of every day you're faced with a decision that can change your life.)

Es sind die kurzen Augenblicke, die über Leben oder Tod entscheiden können...
(English translation: The difference between life or death can be decided in a split second.)

A fast-paced, exciting movie. A Must-Watch Movie!! :D

Grrrrrrrr...............

Met three teachers on the bus on my way back home.

DISAPPOINTED.

One of them was talking about his experience in teaching a particular subject. Then he said the students were divided into "很笨的..笨的..不是很笨的...还有..." and while he said that, he made some irritating actions with his hands and I could sense a certain degree of imagined superiority.

What rubbish!

I didn't want to listen anymore. I shut out completely and glared hard at him. What a woodblock. He didn't even notice that I was staring at him.

If you like to compare students' level of ability, I think you are not fit to be a teacher. A teacher, to me, is one who inspires and touches the souls of each and every student. He or she should never step on them and put them down. Who are you to judge whether a student is 笨 or not? You think you are very clever? What makes you think that you can judge people like that?

I myself have been criticised countless times. I am so immune to the word "stupid". But I've been through the hard times. I used perhaps the first 20 years of life to get over it. I have been very depressed before jus because of criticisms which people give sparingly without a thought for my feelings. It's like some 烙印 which stays forever with you and you are never ever going to be able to get rid of it. The tag just stays forever. So far, I've learned to be stronger and always weitergehen, no matter what.

I started to write encouraging notes to myself when I was in JC...

It's not easy. Easy to say "so long time ago liao.." or "Aiyo, you're in university, which means you're the cream of the.." whatever, I don't care. The harm is already done.

Personally, I've also encountered some very encouraging and inspiring teachers. I might have been very long-winded but they really made a great impact in my life and their names are worth to be mentioned again and again.

Mr Alex Tan, my JC History teacher. He was considered a greenhorn in teaching during my J1. Even though the crappy Mr XXX, the previous History teacher) said that he's a young and promising man, we don't see him promising in any way when we first saw him. And for my very first history test, I failed. Badly.

I was angry. I thought that he marked erm, wrongly. So I arranged a time to see him privately, planning to bomb him with questions like "why did I have such low marks?" or "why is this point wrong??" and hopefully, persuade him to let me pass the damn test.

I met him, in the Study Area. I tried to argue but found that my tongue was somehow tied. He realised that I have a bad foundation on essay-writing. So, he drew out an essay plan for me. Yes, specially for me. He even gave an example, "Why did Ah Kow married Ah Mei??" And his main points were "because Ah Mei's dad is very rich", "because Ah Mei is very pretty", and so on. I was dumbfounded basically. He made essay-writing sound so simple.

One of the many essay outlines Mr Alex Tan came up with.

Throughout my J1 and J2, I've been failing my History tests badly. But after every other test, I arranged appointments with him, asking him what went wrong or to resolve my queries. He patiently guided me and sometimes, we ended up visualing my possible future. I seemed hopeless in envisioning any ''future''. But he'll give that "tsk tsk" look and reassure me that I can do it. I feel bad for taking up a lot of his time just to ask him questions. And sometimes, I'll just apologize when I found out that I just asked a stupid question and then, he'll definitely say "there's no stupid questions." Though they might be stupid questions, at least he made an effort to make me feel better.

I could recall, there was once when I was not sure about the division of Germany during Cold War. He went into his office, grabbed a piece of paper and drew it out for me. I was so grateful. You might say he spoon-fed me but I think, for someone who is bad at her subject, this is a rather reasonable act?

Towards J2, I think my essay-writing improved a little. At least, I was writing rational stuff in my essays. My meetings with him decreased even though I didn't really improve a lot. Apparently, he was still concerned about my studies. One fine day he said, "If you got any queries, you can arrange a time and meet me okay?" I was so damn touched that I even teared. I mean, where the hell do you find a teacher who's willing to entertain a student's limitless questions and some of them might even be dumb questions? Why was he so willing to help? It's a passion, I guess.

At the same time, I had another teacher who gave me the "OH-MY-GOD" look when I said I want to arrange a meeting time with her to clear my queries.

What a big difference.

If I were to be smart enough, I wouldn't have needed your help. Be honoured or grateful that someone actually needs your help! There might come a day when you're not needed at all. When that time comes, you might not know what to do and you might have nothing to do at all. You might as well kill yourself.

I am thankful that I've met great teachers but I grunt at supposedly "passionate" teachers nowadays. What a scam.

Specially dedicated to 酒鬼s..

Seriously, after thinking about our drinking experience a few months back, I really think that that drinking is a money-sucking activity. I just went NTUC and bought this:

Valente Bellini, Sparkling Wine and Peach Cocktail.

Doesn't taste very "alcoholic" but I liked the taste! And you know what? It only costed $3.20 which is like five times cheaper than drinks in Wala Wala. I know the standard can't be compared but come on la, I am but a poor student who has to support herself.

So, I thought of a BRILLIANT idea (at least I think so)..

The next time we want to chill out at night, we can grab alcohol from NTUC, go to some quiet areas and enjoy!! And well, I think the most important point is that we can hear each other. The last time at Wala Wala, we practically have to shout to get our ideas across. What crap. The main point is (oops, I think I went out of point), cheaper.

About the venue, perhaps we can go somewhere where we can, for example, see the stars? :) Like maybe the Esplanade Rooftop? It's been one or two years since I've been there! I think if we gather in someone's house, the parents will think we're a bunch of ding-dong female alcoholics sia. Well, we're a bunch of well-behaved girls, so we shall avoid doing that. Muahahahahaha..

What do you all think?

Fresh Tomatoes or Rotten Tomatoes??

So true.

"My grandmother's story has taught me one important lesson —

one’s life is what one makes of it. We are the ones who determine if we see only the huge boulders in our path or notice the tiny wildflowers growing by the wayside."

Such a lovely line about life from Rebecca. (though I don't know where she got this from)

...

DISAPPOINTMENT

I am so disappointed with what I saw online just now. You know that you shouldn't do something and yet you did it. I feel like slapping you because it's an essential thing in our profession. I am so disappointed and disgusted with what you did. You might think "it's okay what" but have you ever spared a thought for that particular person? Have you thought of the possible consequences, like if that person happen to visit that website and saw what was typed by you when that person actually trusted you so much? How come there's such disgusting people around? WHYYYYY??? Completely disgusted.

Herr Chan is so nice~! I asked for the answer for Kollokation worksheet and within half a day, he posted it up! VIELEN DANK!! :D

Bahhhh...

Just had my second German Semester Test.
Listening was bad. The woman was speaking like a ICE. And the second one, I can't even figure who how many people were speaking. Oh gosh. Erm, person who compiled the listening exercise, can you make sure that the voices you use will sound very different if they were to represent different people?? You know how horrible it is to strain one's neck to listen out for details?

*freak out*

I was so worried about the long text that I would most probably see and then, feel drowsy after seeing. But, today's text was alright. It was about having naps. Good la. I love naps. I was answering the Comprehension questions diligently and I think I took quite a long time. I peeped at Siwei and Xinli who were infront of me and oh damn, they're doing the Grammer questions already! (But actually, they did the grammer first before comprehension.) So I scribbled, whatever I think is correct, furiously on the test paper.

Next I peeped at Joan. She's one page faster than me. Cham la! I quickly bia through that page and jumped right into another page and then, caught up with her but still had around two pages left.

Then Herr Chan said the deadly line.

"Sie haben die letzten zehn Minuten."

WAHKAO. I still got two to three pages not done and I only have ten minutes? NUR ZEHN MINUTEN?? I tell myself not to ganjiong and took deep breaths while doing my paper. It was such a horrible feeling!! It's feels like some monster chasing after you and yet you have to be calm? Bleah. Horrible description. Anyway, I chiong through everything and filled in any words which came to my mind for Cloze Passage and *done*.

I totally forgot how to construct Konjuntiv II sentences and that part surely gone case liao la!!! OH GOSH!!

One thing I hate about this paper is the damn long sentences. They actually give me this queasy feeling, which made known sentences into unknown, clear-minded people into blur-blur people. German long sentences!!!!! Gahhhh, give me the thrills.

Please allow me to get at least a B-..........

Yummy-licious! (Part II)

Mummy made Tom Yam Soup today!! YOU'RE THE BEST! :D

Nice nice side dishes!

Not to forget my favourite 汤包! :)

Hoho, a few days ago I forced-tied Xinyi's hair and made a great effort before she's willing to let me take a picture of her. Well, you can see her sian face from the pictures. Muahahahaha.. :P

Nice mah. Right??

The Wild Berry one is not as good as the Pistachio one. But, chin cai la.

Freak(s).

Met a kuku early in the morning. I was so damn gek okay! I have taken 189 for such a damn long time almost every other day and there's always certain bus drivers who always drive me a little crazy, as in real crazy.

Some drivers just swerve at whatever speed, whatever direction they like. They are like, so not thoughtful. Maybe you'd say that I'm niao but hello, I've had nice bus journeys whereby the driver would actually drive in a nice way such that I won't feel drowsy at all (even when I read my notes!). Most importantly, nice drivers wont make me wobble my way to school. What do I mean by ''wobble''? Those irritating drivers would actually drive in a way which will make your body move around in all sorts of direction-front, left, right and then throw you all the way to the back of the seat. Even though I am not very slim, I can already feel the impact of being thrown around. Why? Horrible driving skills.

Some drivers would actually ensure that as many people as possible will be able to board the bus and thus, won't be late for school and work. I even have a favourite driver now. :) BUT, some drivers just drive past the bus stop without glancing at the poor people who're waiting anxiously for their bus. Personally, I encountered a "WORST" scenario. If the bus just passed by the bus stop without stopping, okay! But, there was once when the bus actually stopped to let people alight and then drove away quickly as if I would burn the bus. When I see people alighting, I was actually quite happy because that would mean that I have a chance of boarding the bus but... but... the bus actually went off (!!!) with me trailing behind like machiam Dao Ming Si chasing after Shan Cai in HYD Taiwan version. It was real pathetic because the people on the bus can actually see me running like a ding dong. We already know that most Singaporeans are apathetic so let's forget about the possibility of a nice soul who'd ask the bus driver to stop the bus and let that poor girl to go school on time. But I think the bus driver sees me lor. (I don't care. I insist that he saw me.)

Alright, back to the kuku which I met today. My ezlink card has no more value (urgh. again!) and thus, I have to use coins which seems real pathetic. I put $1, which should be sufficient for the bus ride to school. Throughout the whole journey, I could sense that the bus rider was staring at me as if I ate his wife (I don't know how else to describe the anger in his eyes). And when the bus reached Ginza Market, he pointed at me and said, "You! You! Come here!" He said I did not pay enough bus fare and said IT SHOULD BE $1.10.

Hello, it's only ten cents and you want to make it such a big deal? The company belongs to your family is it? Why do you have to care about a loss of ten cents? Nowadays,it is difficult to have access to public toilets with only ten cents. Some toilets require you to pay twenty cents okay! So, he claimed that there's ticket checking and I should buy a new ticket, which means, I HAVE TO PAY ANOTHER $1.10 for my bus trip. What the UY^%$EGKO. And by the way, my ticket was not checked at all.

$1.10 is a small amount I know. But hello, you want me to pay $2.10 for the stupid bus trip which made me drowsy and had me subjected to continuous stares from some man whom I don't even know? If your attitude had been better, I would have paid the extra $1.10 willingly and gladly but what's that kind of attitude? It really made me look like some immature teenager who wants to pay 10 cents less. For your information, I didn't pay my bus fare to get humiliated.

Irritating freak. Grrrr...

Brainful of german..

Gott, koennen Sie mir helfen?

Heute werde ich frueher schlafen!

P/S: Eine sehr langsam Entry ueber Uni. Entschuldigung. Ich werde mehr interessantes Inhalt in meine Urlaub schreiben. Ich weiss nicht, ob ich richtige Deutsch benutzt habe. :X
...
Oh, forgot to mention something very important. I got my first choice of attachment- STUDENTS CARE SERVICE in Clementi. :) I didn't really expect to get my first choice because the third year students have been telling me that we have a low possibility of getting our first choice. Nevertheless, I still balloted according to what I preferred. But the thing is, I didn't expect much. Perhaps that is why I am delighted? No matter where we are attached to, we must strive and learn as much as possible!! Social Work mates, 加油!!

Happy~!!!

Slept at 2 plus last night and woke up at 7am. Felt so yawn-y for the whole day! I've got a feeling my essay won't turn out very good. Bleah! :P

My friend's happy!

Kelvin's in a good mood today! :)

Mum said my temper is getting better! YEAH! :D

Alright, no time to type all the details. Shall leave it like that. Stay happy, people!

(P/S: I've added Dass Du Lebst's lyrics at the side! :D)

See the graph on the right hand side of the window? Green line stands for my health, pink line stands for love, and blue line stands for.... erm.. whatever.. Interesting huh? :D Got this from my dear primary school friend's blog.

Dear friend, you're not alone. Not all families are perfect.

Summary of today.

Have you ever met someone whom you have not see for a very long time, to the extent of feeling that he/she doesn't exist in this world at all? It feels like a dream.

Today I...
  • have finally balloted for my attachment!
  • skipped my PR2202 lecture to watch A League of Their Own.
  • I had tried to do my HY2247 essay, which is only less than one-third done.
  • didn't eat a proper lunch.
  • found someone sweet.
  • felt that someone is cute in a silly way. :)
  • gobbled down my dinner.
  • plan to finish my essay by tuesday evening so that I can read up for my SW2101 project meeting.

Feeling so tired! :(
